BRASSLINE CHAIR

This chair takes inspiration from the graceful, elongated forms of a flamingo, translating its poised stance and fluid movement into a sculptural yet functional seating piece. The natural elegance of the flamingo informed the overall character of the design, emphasizing balance, lightness, and a sense of upward movement. Rather than directly mimicking the form, the design abstracts these qualities into a refined furniture piece that feels expressive yet purposeful.

The silhouette reflects the flamingo’s slender legs and curved neck through elongated lines and subtle bends, creating a dynamic profile that appears in motion even when static. These gestures give the chair a strong visual identity while maintaining clarity and restraint. The form is intentionally composed to feel delicate and elevated, allowing it to engage the surrounding space as an object of both utility and art.

Careful attention was given to proportion, scale, and stance to ensure the chair remains structurally sound and ergonomically comfortable. The balance between thin profiles and stable grounding elements allows the piece to feel lightweight without sacrificing strength. This approach reinforces the idea that elegance and durability can coexist through thoughtful design decisions.

Expressed brass detailing traces intentionally through the chair’s construction, acting as both the primary structural framework and a unifying visual element. The brass supports the leather and wood components, clearly revealing how the materials interact and are assembled. This honest expression of structure celebrates craftsmanship, while the contrast between warm brass, rich wood, and supple leather enhances material depth and reinforces the relationship between form, function, and materiality.
