Heights Winery is a newly opened tasting room my client asked me to design on a site in rural Sonoma, California, which consists of two existing buildings and a connecting landscape. The design of the winery is inspired by the wine-tasting term “finish,” the lingering sensation or impression a wine leaves on your palette after you have tasted it. My client’s goal was to create an experience evoking different emotions for the visitors as they journey through the space, leaving a wonderful lasting impression, just like the finish of a fine wine. The design solution correlates the process of tasting wine with our emotions, creating spaces that stimulate visitors’ emotions. Creating an immersive experience for the visitors helps them to bond with Heights Winery and the wine-tasting process.
